The St Luke’s Radiation Oncology Network comprises of three cancer treatment centres in Dublin. St Luke’s Hospital, Rathgar, St Luke’s Radiation Oncology Centre at St James’ Hospital and St Luke’s Radiation Oncology Centre at Beaumont Hospital.

St Luke’s Hospital, Rathgar

St Luke's Hospital EntranceSt Luke’s Hospital first opened its doors in 1952. For year’s cancer services were under-funded due to lack of Government finances.

In 1981, The Friends of St Luke’s was established to help fund new cancer treatment equipment at the hospital.

In the 1990’s the hospital, with the help of The Friends, embarked on a major upgrade of all facilities. Now patients and visitors are pleasantly surprised by the grounds and environment. The objective of these enhancements was to improve the patient experience and is one which continues today.

St Luke’s Radiation Oncology Centre at St James’s Hospital

The St Luke’s Radiation Oncology Centre at St James’s Hospital is situated in the grounds of St James’s Hospital and is part of the St Luke’s Radiation Oncology Network. The centre is ideally located on the grounds of St Jame’s Hospital, a minutes walk from the red line luas station.

This new state of the art St Luke’s Radiation Oncology Centre comprises of four linear accelators of which two are already fully in use, one CT and one MRI for patients. Since the opening of these new centres in the St Luke’s Radiation Oncology Network, patient waiting times have decreased and patient reaction to the new centres has been very positive. The centre is identical in layout to the centre at Beaumont Hospital.
