Bathroom Refurbishment In D Ward SLH Rathgar

The Friends are delighted to announce we are funding the REFURBISHMENT OF BATHROOMS ON D WARD at St Luke’s Hospital, Rathgar costing €614,000

Hygiene Audits have been carried out on D Ward on a quarterly  basis and it was continuously observed that  the standard  of the  shower  and shower trays were not  in good condition as per Hygiene Standards. Shower trays were not  adequate as water  came over the top  on to the  floor  making  it a health  and safety issue in some areas. Cleaning was difficult due  to mould around the edges of the shower tray. Therefore silicone needed replacing on a regular basis.

D Ward comprises of a total 17  single rooms  and 3 x 4 bedded  wards

It is envisaged  to  offer  patients  excellent  care  while  they  are being  treated  in St Luke’s Hospital.  In  conjunction with   this  the   SLRON Management  at  St  Luke’s  Hospital,  are committed to ensuring that  clean, compliant and comfortable surroundings are provided for patients.

From a patient perspective it was also recommended that D Ward be redecorated with the inclusion of minor  modifications to ensure the rooms are HIQA compliant and also to support  patient comfort. Some of the recommendations from  a recent HIQA proposal are to include  a hand hygiene sink in all single rooms. We also intend  to introduce grab rails and supports into  the showers  and to  replace the  doors  to the bedrooms.  These modifications will comply  with HIQA & Health and Safety recommendations.  The above and some redecoration works  will improve  the overall quality and aesthetics of the Ward.
