Appropriations
We are delighted to announce we have recently funded a second CT/Simulator in 2009 which cost €1.25 million. The introduction of the first CT/Sim funded by The Friends, has resulted in a dramatic increase in the percentage of complex treatments for the patients at St Luke's. The second CT/Sim will further increase the capacity to provide advanced treatments and will be compliment the exchequer funding of 4 new state of the art Linear Accelerators.
The Diagnostic Imaging Suite (x-ray)  was refurbished to include a new waiting and changing area and a new achiving and management system for the images.
In recent years,The Friends funded the purchase a new Endiscopic Washer/Disinfector which is important for the traceability and control of patient infection within in the Hospital. We also funded the purchase of a new Colonscope which is diagnostic equipment used to assess colo-rectal patients who demonstrate a change in clinical conditions. This assessment will now take place in St Lukes and appropriate treatment can be arranged immediately.    A new dedicated patient transport ambulance was purchased to improve patient comfort.
Since 1981 The Friends have funded some very important projects at St Luke’s Hospital including :
