Our New Chairman - Mr Peter Byers 16/11/2009
I would like to acknowledge the contribution of David O’Halloran (son of our founder Professor Michael J O’Halloran) who held the position of Chairman for the past twelve years. During his tenure The Friends contributed over € 12million to the Hospital and many improvements were made to the facilities available for patients such as new therapeutic equipment and new and refurbished environments and buildings. Before David left office, he had the pleasure, on behalf of The Friends, of donating almost €2million to the Hospital for the new CT Simulator and DID Department. David will continue as a Friends Council member and I know I can depend on his energy and commitment going forward.
As Chairman I would like to acknowledge the contribution of our “Friends” all over the country who tirelessly fundraise for the great facility that is St Luke’s Hospital, Rathgar. During these difficult financial times we will be depending more on our “Friends” to help us continue to provide the necessary and vital care provided at St Luke’s.
The treatment of cancer is ongoing and always improving with the advances of modern technology. Be assured that the funds you raise or donate will always be put to the best possible use within the Hospital and also to support Oncology Research at St Luke’s Institute of Cancer Research. Our ultimate aim is to continue to improve on patient treatment and experience at St Luke’s Hospital.
Please take the time to read through our Annual Newsletter and see the many exciting projects taking place in the Hospital and the many and varied fundraising events that have been held to raise funds for The Friends.
PETER BYERS
Chairman.
