Installation of Elekta Synergy Linacs 14/09/2009
The major, two-phase project to install four new Elekta Synergy Linacs is now complete.  The first two Linacs (Units 7 and 8) started treating patients in August 2008.  When they were operational, th two old Elekta units (the 15 and 15a) were decommissioned, the rooms were refurbished and the second pair of new Elekta Synergy Linacs were installed.  These began patient treament in September 2008.
 
 
New Linear Accelerators 12/08/2009
Four Hundred addtional cancer patients will be treated each year at St Luke's with the most advanced radiotherapy equipment available in Ireland as a result of the installation of four new Linear Accelerators (Linacs) at the cost of in excess of €15m.
 
Accreditation Award 12/08/2009
St Luke's Hospital Blood Bank and Haemovigilance Service was awarded Accreditation to the internationally recognised Standard ISO 15189.
 
Upgrade of the Diagnostic Imaging Suite 12/08/2009
The upgrade of the Diagnostic Imaging Department in St Luke's is currently underway and will involve replacement of x-ray and ultrasound equipment together with intergrating the RIS (Radiology Information System) PACS (Picture Archiving and Communications System). 
New CT Simulator 12/08/2009
The oldest conventional simulator (Elekta) at St Luke's will replace with second large bore CT Simulator and associated virtual simulation workstations.
