About us
“A vital source of support in the development of St Luke’s”

The Friends of St Luke’s Hospital was established to raise funds to enhance the care, comfort and management of cancer patients at St Luke’s Hospital, Dublin. 29 years later we have a vibrant network of supports all over Ireland.   We depend entirely on the goodwill of the people of Ireland who work tirelessly to raise funds for the hospital. To date over €26 million has been raised. Our goals remain the same and that is to generate the funds to ensure that St Luke’s Hospital continues to be a warm, friendly, comfortable and well-equipped facility for patients to undergo treatment in achieving a cure for their cancer.

Each year, The Friends hold some very special fundraising events including our Golf Classic, our annual Paddy Cole Concert at the National Concert Hall, and our Annual  Ladies Lunch, this year at the Westbury Hotel , along with many more fundraising events organised by our “Friends” throughout the country.

A sincere thank you for your support over the past 29 years. Without your generosity we could not continue to provide the extra comforts for the patients who attend this wonderful hospital, St Luke’s.

Each year funds are raised for the purchase of new and replacement equipment and various projects within the Hospital. St Luke's is the "Centre of Excellence" in the treatment of cancer. Our main projects carried out in recent years include:
Oakland Lodge, an extension to the Radiotherapy Department, new Linear Accelerator and Diagnostic equipment, renovation of the Out-Patients Department, refurbishment of the Operating Theatre, refurbishment of the Chapel, construction of the Rehabilitation and Support Centre, which is the first of its kind in Ireland and provides physiotherapy, social services, an activity centre, specialist nurses and holistic care for the patients and dedicated Patient Transport.

We are delighted to announce we have funded a second CT/Simulator in 2009 which  cost €1.25 million. The introduction of the first CT/Sim funded by The Friends, has resulted in a dramatic increase in the percentage of complex treatments for the patients at St Luke's. The second CT/Sim will further increase the capacity to provide advanced treatments and will be compliment the exchequer funding of the 4 new state of the art Linear Accelerators. 1n 2009,  The Friends have also funded the purchase of the new HDR / Brachytherapy machine (High Dose Radiotherapy).
Without your help The Friends would be unable to fund these vital projects
